The short version: We collect only what we need to repair your phone and contact you about it. We repair your device in front of you and do not access your personal data. We never sell your information to anyone.
1. Who we are
DeviceDoc ("we", "us", "our") provides doorstep mobile phone repair services in Chandigarh, Mohali and Zirakpur. We are the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
- Address:
- Phone:
- Email:
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Name — to know who we are meeting;
- Mobile number — collected automatically when you message us on WhatsApp, and used to confirm and coordinate your appointment;
- Address — so our technician can reach you. We usually take this on the WhatsApp conversation, not through the website;
- Device details — make, model, and the fault you are reporting;
- Appointment preferences — your city, preferred day and time slot;
- Any other information you choose to send us in a message, photo or email.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data when you visit this website — IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed and time of visit — used only to keep the site working and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used.
Payment information
Online payments are processed by our payment gateway partner, Razorpay. We do not collect or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, or net-banking credentials. Those go directly to Razorpay, which is a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. We only receive confirmation of whether a payment succeeded, and a transaction reference.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only to:
- Confirm, schedule and carry out your repair;
- Give you a quotation, and contact you about your booking;
- Reach your address, and let you know when the technician is on the way;
- Take payment, and issue an invoice or receipt;
- Honour your 6-month warranty — for which we need a record of what we repaired, and when;
- Respond to your questions, complaints or refund requests;
- Meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations;
- Improve our service.
We do not send marketing spam. If we ever want to send you a promotional offer, we will ask for your consent first, and you can withdraw it at any time by replying "STOP".
4. Your device and your data — this matters most
This is the part customers worry about, and rightly so. Here is exactly where we stand.
- Repairs happen in front of you. Wherever technically possible, your device never leaves your sight. You can watch every step.
- We do not access, view, copy or extract your personal data — your photos, messages, contacts, files or accounts. Our technicians are instructed never to browse a customer's device, and we treat any breach of this as a serious disciplinary matter.
- We do not ask for your passwords, except where a repair genuinely cannot be tested without unlocking the device. In that case we will explain why, and we would much rather you unlocked it yourself and stayed present than gave us your passcode.
- Please back up your data before any repair. Some repairs — especially software repairs and liquid-damage recovery — carry an inherent risk of data loss. We are not a data-recovery service and, as set out in our Terms & Conditions, we cannot accept liability for lost data.
- Remove your SIM and memory card before handing over the device.
- If a device must go to our workshop, it is stored securely and returned to you as soon as the work is complete. We will always ask for your explicit consent first.
5. Who we share your information with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone. We share it only with:
- Our technicians — the one assigned to your job gets your name, phone number, address and device details. That is all they need, and that is all they get.
- Razorpay, our payment gateway, to process a payment or a refund. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policy.
- WhatsApp (Meta) — because you choose to contact us there, your messages are handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy. We have no control over that platform.
- Our accountants and auditors, and where legally required, tax authorities.
- Law enforcement or a court, where we are legally compelled to disclose, or where we reasonably suspect a device has been stolen.
6. How long we keep your information
- Repair and warranty records: kept for at least the 6-month warranty period, so we can honour a claim, and for up to 3 years thereafter.
- Invoices and payment records: retained for 8 years, as required by Indian tax law.
- WhatsApp conversations: retained for as long as needed to service and support your repair.
- Information we no longer need is deleted or anonymised.
7. How we protect your information
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. This website is served over HTTPS, access to customer records is limited to staff who need it, and payment data never touches our systems.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we ever suffer a data breach that affects you, we will tell you.
8. Your rights
You may, at any time, ask us to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- Delete your information — subject to records we must keep by law, or to honour a live warranty;
- Stop contacting you for anything other than a repair you have booked;
- Withdraw consent you previously gave.
Just message us on WhatsApp or email . We will respond within 30 days, and we will not charge you for it.
9. Cookies
This website is a simple, static site. It does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not track you across other websites. If we later add analytics to understand how the site is used, we will update this policy to say so.
10. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to book on your behalf.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always the one on this page, and the "Last updated" date above will tell you when it changed.
